New Water-treatment solutions for ArcelorMittal’s Barra Mansa mill
By choosing Zero-scale pit© and DanFilters, the customer will rely on Danieli's comprehensive set of technologies to implement a more sustainable business
After ordering a new 400,000-tpy section mill for its Barra Mansa site in Brazil, ArcelorMittal will rely once again on Danieli to replace an old water-treatment plant with one powered by Danieli's Zero-Scale pit (ZSP) and DanFilters©.
The ZSP is designed to collect the water containing the scales generated during the first steps of rolling. There are multiple benefits to this solution, including low-depth foundation, which minimizes excavations, ensuring lower capital and erection costs.
On the other hand, DanFilters will be used to filter plant waters more efficiently: not only are they smaller in diameter compared to the previously installed solution (3.8 meters vs. 5), but to obtain the same performance, ArcelorMittal can use just three DanFilters compared to the previous four.
Both the rolling mill and water-treatment plant are expected to start operations in Q3 2024.
