Clean Heat Recovery
The CHRâ„¢ System developed by Danieli Environment transforms waste-heat sources within the steelmaking process (i.e., EAFs, reheating furnaces, where a huge amount of thermal energy is lost through the off-gasses) into electric energy.
The system combines hot water cooling and ORC-Organic Rankine Cycle technology to produce electric energy and recover waste heat, with a consequent fuel savings and reduction of GHG emissions.
The first CHRâ„¢ plant was installed in 2014 at Acciaierie Bertoli Safau S.p.A., the Danieli Group's steelmaking company in Udine, Italy.
