Aceros de Guatemala orders WTP Update from Danieli
Water-treatment plant will be modernized and coordinated as part of a rolling mill revamping
Following an order to revamp its rolling mill, Aceros de Guatemala selected Danieli to implement an upgrade of the associated water-treatment plant (WTP), to complete the overall improvement project.
The WTP is designed to treat and recycle all the contact water coming from the mill and quenching system.
The upgrade plan features the patented DanFilters, which will reduce the WTP footprint.
Danieli's solutions will be fully integrated using existing equipment, electrical cabin, piping routing, and applying the same standard for the mechanical and electrical/instrumental design used in technological area.
All the existing concrete basins will be restored, including scale pit and longitudinal clarifiers, and just one new pit will be necessary to handle the additional flowrate resulting from a new heat-treating operation.
The old PLC will be reutilized and connected to the new one that will handle the automation of both new and existing equipment. The signals also will be diverted to the RM pulpit, to allow for remote control of the WTP.
At the end of the project there will be only one WTP plant with a single control pulpit controlling the process.
Danieli Automation will integrate the hardware and software of both current and new parts of the WTP, while ensuring:
Commissioning of the WTP is expected during Q1 2021.

- a single brand of supplied components, making it possible to stock common spares;
- software tested prior to commissioning, together with the other technical process lines;
